One aspect of the conflict in the Middle East is the issue of territory. The holiest of lands, it has been the subject of too many promises yet has never been at peace. Conceptual analysis tools are inadequate since it is impossible to even formulate a interpretation grid. Some people believe the issue is a theological one, while others think it political or military or diplomatic. At the time of proofreading this paper (May 2015), the situation has reached a complete impasse. Perhaps we need to restate the question from the bottom up, from ground level so to speak, and build niches and spaces in order to avoid a catastrophe.
