The demographic transition that characterizes our era is undoubtedly one of the most profound and sustained revolutions in human history. As such, it redefines our relationship with time and death. Associated with death and degeneration, old age now seems like a medical defect or a curse against which one must fight. Drawing a parallel between the status of elderly people and biomedical advances in the fight against aging, this article will investigate the social and ethical consequences of this desire to conquer death scientifically, to live without aging, and to extend life indefinitely.
