Palliative care in pictures

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Palliative care is presented here based on the experiences of health professionals and the analyses carried out by researchers in the specific field of this human care. Drawings have been made live at each annual meeting organised by the Breton Coordination of Palliative Care over the last ten years. The 45 drawings of the November 2021 day and the themes addressed by this live drawing humour during the oral communications are mobilised here. The thematic content analysis combines a concern for understanding the motives of the situations drawn, while not neglecting the variety of feelings and experiences related and transposed in the drawings. In contact with the end of life and death, this approach through humour may seem provocative, but it allows to analyse the varied experiences of these end-of-life situations, with a professional distance that is always questioned, regardless of the professional or non-professional status of the accompanying person (carers, relatives, volunteers, researchers). Palliative care practices thus appear to be rich in shared emotions and experiences that sometimes remain in the memories of accompanying persons for years after their occurrence. The end of life care and drawings convey situations with a strong symbolic charge, which are all markers of (end of) life.
