The reform of French mental health legislation concerning care programs (July 5, 2011 and September 27, 2013) sum up the critical questions at stake in this process. It is a question of understanding whether or not this legal model of outpatient care without consent leads to beneficial care outcomes, and whether it enables the patient to make their way towards free and elective care.
