The clinical burn-out syndrome has recently come to the forefront of social concerns in the contemporary world. Dealt with using a fundamentally quantitative methodology, it tends to fall back on the old notion of being overworked—although studies dedicated to it also reveal other, more psychological, factors. However, a clinical examination enlightened by the psychoanalytic approach highlights a recurrent problem related to the collapse of an idealized blueprint that supports the patient in their professional commitment. The increase of these occurrences in recent times would then be directly related to the dehumanization of personal relationships and management in the current economic world.
