“The existentialism of the symptom”: contribution of clinical phenomenology

If clinical phenomenology is fruitful for the analysis of psychopathological phenomena, it strives to fully comprehend the patient's experience and the caregiver's experience from an existential perspective. This is what I will attempt to illustrate after a quick detour into the history of phenomenology and the phenomenological approach in psychiatry. A clinical example in a transcultural situation will support my views.
