The contribution of telemedicine in joint practice: Combining geriatric and psychiatric support in a memory center
Type de matériel :

The authors report on a telemedicine practice that took place over the course of several years in two specific domains:– That of tele-expertise, in the form of videoconferencing within a memory center bringing together several medical specialties (in geriatrics, neurology, and psychiatry) in order to treat cognitive impairments in complex situations.– That of teleconsultation in a care home, particularly in situations of behavioral disorganization within a neurodegenerative context, or of depressive symptoms in their multiple forms of expression.By using several examples, the authors illustrate the value of a joint and complementary approach—primarily geriatric and psychiatric–to complex disorders or overlapping pathologies by emphasizing the important collaboration provided by a closely connected diagnostic approach. They also show the value of the different therapeutic options that stemmed from this approach.
