Sexual health contributes toward quality of life and overall well-being. It is frequently impaired during cancer treatments and/or in the aftermath of treatment in the long-term, often several years after the diagnosis of cancer. However, the issue of sexual health tends to remain largely unaddressed over the course of a patient’s oncological journey, as healthcare professionals have little understanding of the subject and specialized treatment remains scarce. National and international recommendations encourage the prevention, testing, and early treatment of sexual disorders in cancer patients. In order to meet these objectives, the Institut du Cancer de Montpellier (ICM) has developed an oncosexology service incorporating a sexual health promotion program, which aims to train and raise awareness among healthcare staff, inform patients, provide systematic screening for sexual disorders, and ensure access to multidisciplinary treatment.
