Treatment of a young woman with PTSD in a medico-psychological center

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2021. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is is a very specific therapy. We were charged with treating a young military patient with characterized PTSD in our medico-psychological center (CMP). We chose to combine drug therapy and psychotherapy through prolonged exposure therapy. Exposure was carried out by written narration under propranolol. The framework of care was medicalized, and exposure interviews were carried out by a senior nurse from the CMP. We observed a marked improvement in the patient’s symptoms until she returned to her military post after four months of care. However, this period of care has led us to question the cost of patients with PTSD in our CMP due to a lack of prior therapeutic experience. We develop a critical analysis of our therapeutic choices and the patient’s clinical evolution in order to identify areas for reflection on PTSD treatment, as well as guidelines for implementing a management system for patients with post-traumatic symptoms. This experience inspired the deployment of a psychological trauma care project in our CMP.
