“Knowing” or “becoming.” Wilfred R. Bion’s theory of resistance
Type de matériel :
36
In two of his works, Transformations and Attention and Interpretation, Wilfred. R. Bion develops a theory of resistance against psychoanalysis based on the hypothesis that resistance is due to the fear of the psychic turbulences involved in the psychoanalytic process, as far as its aim is to help patients to “become” themselves and not only to deepen their knowledge about themselves. His “transformation in K” aims at this knowledge, while his “transformation in O” aims at “becoming oneself.” Bion places the issue of resistance to psychoanalysis at the interface between these two types of transformation.
