After reviewing the feminine and masculine components of the (psychic) envelopes, as well as the concept of imago regarding the necessary de-condensation of the concept of object representation, the author gives a few examples or early triangular situations (pre-genital or pre-oedipal) in both the intra-psychic and interpersonal categories. Afterwards, the co-construction of the third party by the child and by the adult (mother, father, caregivers) is presented, leading to the concept of “connecting third party,” aptly summed up by the metaphor of the “Saint-Anne” function.
