Leibnizian proof that God exists: The “way” of movement
Type de matériel :
41
This paper examines how the young Leibniz develops the proof of God’s existence from motion in his early natural philosophy (1666-1670). It traces the evolution of the proof in light of his new physics (1671) to its disappearance at the time of the reform of mechanics and the rehabilitation of substantial forms (1679). Finally, the paper considers the reasons why the proof can still be found—albeit in new forms—in subsequent texts, where Leibniz connects it to other proof of God’s existence—from the contingency of the world, from the convenance of natural laws, and from preestablished harmony.
