The Unreconciled: Critical History on the Fringes of Amnesty

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2006. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Abstract In the twentieth century the question of political amnesty called into question the relations between memory, justice and reconciliation. This complex set of relations has been admirably discussed by Jürgen Habermas and Paul Ricoeur, who focus on the links between justice and pardonning. Habermas attempts to go beyond such a choice by conceiving of a political culture based on a critical relation to history. A polity tending towards reconciliation must deal with rhetorical excesses, but this element of irreconcilability can be limited by a universal definition of the irreconcilable.
