Imperial assemblies: Heteronomy and parliamentary logics

Often, we tend to automatically associate the parliamentary institution with the democratic regime. However, imperial regimes have maintained this institution while also transforming it in terms of the conditions for recruiting its members, its work organization, and the type of political goods it produces and distributes. The more or less common forms they adopt constitute a type of assembly that can be described as heteronomous.
