Deschamps studies have gone through several phases. They began with the dicovery of Dom Deschamps’s work by Émile Beaussire in 1865 and have followed an irregular path ever since. This short article, which introduces a dossier devoted to the Benedictine monk’s thought, sets out some of the milestones along this quasi-phenomelogical path of the reception of Dom Deschamps in the history of philosophy. It presents some of the fundamental characteristics of his highly original thought, which is still largely unknown to the general public.
