In this paper, we study two movements within the Roman Catholic Church in Brazil : Liberation Theology (TL) and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (RCC). Both are analyzed by taking into account the relationship between practices and doctrinal articulation to demonstrate that these two aspects proceed from the same semantic universe. Furthermore, both movements are considered integral parts of the same discursive area, reinforcing the 'primacy of interdiscourse' thesis. The analysis reveals signs of mutual sharing between practices and doctrine : practices validate and 'embody' the doctrine, which in turn gives practices their meaning.
