Lay-led funerals

For sixteen years, Michel Jeanneret, a layman who is now retired, was entrusted by his pastoral team with full-time responsibility for funeral ministry. He looks back on his experience, stressing the importance of training, clear lines of cooperation among ministries, team work with volunteers, the availability he was able to provide, and the presentation of the faith that this form of ministry can make possible. He believes that a greater role should be granted to this ministry “at the crossroads”.
