The Catholic school in France seen within a missionary dynamic: oversight

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2015. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The notion of “tutelle” (which could be translated as “oversight”) has gradually become part of the language of the Catholic school since the 1970s, and has seen the first lay people appointed to be heads of oversight within schools. The notion is now present on a daily basis in Catholic schools and diocesan institutions, with the main concern being to safeguard the Christian dimension of educational projects and to take into account the guidelines issued by the diocese or by congregations. There are two categories of oversight : by the diocese or by a religious congregation. These two categories make it possible to preserve the variety of charisms of the different founders which continue to nurture the identity of the Catholic school. At the diocesan level, the diocesan director is responsible for the oversight and directs the diocesan activities undertaken to serve all scholastic institutions. In the case of oversight by a congregation, each of these organises its oversight in line with the status of Catholic education. The Ignace de Loyola-Education network, described here, is an excellent example of this.
