This programmatic article brings together the various contributions to this issue around the urgency of making Holy Scripture the hermeneutical principle of the theological and pastoral reform of the entire Catholic Church. 500 years after the impetus given by Luther, this is to be a reality both in the life of a diocese and the decisions taken by the authorities, and in catechesis and theological training. It is by taking lectio divina as the rule of life, as is the case in basic Christian communities, that various groups and ecclesial communities will be able to recover that breath of life called for by both Benedict XVI’s Verbum Domini (no. 73) and by Francis’ Evangelii gaudium (no. 174).
