Young people and the liturgy: a complex relationship

The article seeks to highlight, if only in synthetic fashion, the rather complex relationship between the younger generations and Christian celebration. If, on the one hand, attendance by young people at Eucharistic celebrations is falling, on the other hand, the lives of younger people are permeated by rituals, even if they are ‘low cost’ and highly emotional. In order to design a trajectory of liturgical ministry that could bring ‘young people to the liturgy and the liturgy to young people’, it is important first and foremost to rediscover the true nature of Christian celebration: it is a symbolic ritual action that engages the whole person: body, mind, senses and emotions.
