The article examines the recent document of the International Theological Commission of 2 March 2018 entitled Synodality in the Life and Mission of the Church. This document is to be considered a “navigation map” for the preparation phase of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme For a Synodal Church: communion, participation and mission.Talking about synodality today means dealing with a very complex subject. For this reason, it will be useful to find in this document some “fixed points” for both a fruitful reflection and a coherent practice about synodality. In this way, we can avoid the risk of dispersion, always possible in an age marked by rapid changes and therefore by great uncertainty.
