What Virtuous Circle Can We Use to Break Free from Violence?

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : A significant part of humanity is under a form of violence that can be diverse. Economic violence in particular kills daily. Today, the part of the world that has been exploited by the richest 20% is demanding justice. The issue of wealth distribution is becoming central, at a time when the myth of a planet with unlimited resources is crumbling. In the name of an ideology of infinite growth, we cannot continue to pursue policies that aim to enrich the richest 1% of the population. Will Europe be able to change its paradigm and embark on a “win-win” relationship with formerly colonised countries, where a fair price is paid for resources? The free circulation of capital is not a dogma. Capital does not have to circulate without controls or rules, unless democracies are transformed into plutocracies. It would be suicidal for democracies to give up regulating capital. We need to move towards a democracy in which institutions are the place for confronting ideas and building collective intelligence.
