Judging Francoism
Type de matériel :
32
This article follows the application of the Spanish “Historical Memory Act” of 2007 and the reactions in four main daily newspapers, ABC, El País, El Mundo, La Vanguardia, from the contreversy about withdrawing or not Francoist symbols to the slow opening of mass graves and the non reversal of exceptional courts sentences. Answering to the families' requests would mean reconsidering The Amnisty Act of 1977, but judge Garzon’s expulsion has shown the Spanish courts’ refusal to do so. This has obliged the families to turn towards international courts. The second part of this article is devoted to the requests to Argentinian courts.
