The author considers the issue of Belgium commemorations of the First World War through four groups of questions: 1) What is the position of the federal government on the Great War? How does it see the commemorations? 2) What speeches have been given and what are the attitude of the Flemish and Walloonian provinces? Can we speak of a memory of the Great War built on opposition? What are their points of agreement and disagreement? Why does the tourism of memory play such an important role? Why is it the subject of such a development? 4) What is the place of the Great War in the curriculum of secondary school (community college)? How is it taught? Does this role vary on region?
