The concept of notorio arraigo and the political construction of the religious minorities in Spain (1980-2015)

Spanish Organic Law on Religious Freedom (LOLR) of 1980 establishes that any religious minority, in order to be able to enjoy its rights and freely exercise its worship, needs to sign a Cooperation Agreement with the Spanish State. Prior to this agreement are the entry in the Register of Religious Entities and the acquisition of the status of notorio arraigo (notorious rooting). The article analyses the construction of religious minorities and the recognition of the status of notorio arraigo in Spain between 1980 and 2015.
