The 1973 coup d’état in Chile and the repression that followed provoked a strong mobilization of international solidarity. However, for the French members within the LDH as well as the FIDH, this Chilean moment, which favoured the emergence of new human rights organisations such as Amnesty International, corresponded to a period of important reflection on their own functioning.
