Type de matériel :

This paper considers the itinerary and archives of Paul Goma, a former political prisoner who denounced the authoritarian and repressive nature of the communist regime in his books, essays and articles, as well as founding a human rights movement. He remains one of the most complex personalities of the Romanian dissidence. This paper will first examine Goma’s personal and professional life to identify the events that led him to open dissent, then to exile and anticommunist activism. It will then consider the archives with significant information on Paul Goma in Romania, France, and Hungary, and their availability to researchers.
