Poverty currently affects almost half of Burkina Faso's population, and this has become one of the main concerns of the authorities. Burkina Faso is involved in a decentralization process that recently led to the creation of thirteen administrative regions with various level of development. These inequalities are brought about by huge regional disparities in terms of the incidence of poverty. This study uses a panel data model including nine variables such as literacy rate, public expenditure, rainfall, cotton production, highways, etc. Among these variables, three turn to be relevant to regional poverty: the literacy rate, the urbanization rate, and population density.
