Urinary bilharzia remains endemic in some African countries. In routine medical practice in France, only young, newly arrived migrants are affected. It is important for primary care physicians to know which countries are affected and the reasons for carrying out screening. This article summarizes the clinical approach of French primary care physicians within a challenging social context, since these patients are highly vulnerable and the best screening methods are not supported in ambulatory care.
