Reducing the Vulnerability of Rural Households through Agro-Ecological Practices: The Case of the Rice Intensification System (SRI)
Type de matériel :

The Rice Intensification System is a cropping system based on agro-ecological principles that mobilize existing biological potentials in crops and soil systems. SRI has shown in more than two dozen countries that yields can be raised substantially by managing plants, soil, water, and nutrients differently, with less reliance on fertilizer and agrochemicals, lowering the costs of production and even labor costs. This paper considers how vulnerability, and particularly that of resource-poor households, can be reduced by reorienting current agricultural practices.
