The neo-liberal economy and religious fundamentalism are characteristics of the current international context, as are the many emerging women's networks working for women's rights. Since the Cairo and Beijing summits, gender equality has been strongly called for. In the context of the Millennium Development Goals, this paper discusses a range of issues related to reproductive and sexual rights.
