Toward a better understanding of patient community involvement: Contributions for healthcare practitioners?

This article explores the experience of community involvement among oncology patients. A qualitative study was conducted among twenty-five cancer patients. It shows a connection between individual and interindividual medical histories, four values related to the experience of community involvement, and the managerial profiles of those involved. These insights provide managerial recommendations for practitioners and public authorities in order to optimize the involvement of communities in healthcare pathways and in public policy strategies.
