The Departmental Center for Persons with Disabilities (MDPH) medical certificate provides essential information that allows the MDPH’s multidisciplinary teams to assess the compensation needs of individual children. This assessment, combined with consideration of the child’s life plans and environmental factors, will be decisive in the choice of compensation measures to be put in place. It is therefore important for primary care practitioners to be provided with the tools they need to complete the certificate appropriately. Intellectual disability often provides entitlement to specific compensatory measures. Intellectual disability affects general intellectual functioning, leading to a reduction in the child’s adaptive capacities and significant difficulties in carrying out the activities of daily life.
