Exposure to screens among young, developing children is a frequently addressed topic in both the mainstream media and the medical community. Many warn of the harmful effects of screen exposure. National and international recommendations have been drawn up to regulate this exposure. Several scientific publications address this subject, and some authors go so far as to suggest a possible link between “autism development” and preciocious and intense screen use during early childhood. This question also applies to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The aim of this article is to carry out a narrative review of the literature on the relationship between screens and ASD, in order to help the attending physician (e.g., the primary care practitioner, pediatrician, or child psychiatrist) to provide advice to families.
