According to the French national chlamydia surveillance network, Rénachla, chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection is the most common sexual bacterial infection in the general population with more than 120,000 cases diagnosed in France in 2021. According to the French primary care practitioner network, Sentinelles, there has been a constant increase in infections between 2000 and 2021. According to a 2006 Natchla study, the prevalence was highest between women aged between 18 and twenty-four years, and men aged between twenty and twenty-nine, with a positivity rate of 8.3 percent in women and 4.4 percent in men. Due to its frequency and potential complications, emphasis must be placed on prevention and early treatment, particularly in young people.
