Financial inclusion through mobile banking in Senegal: An analysis of the socioeconomic factors for adoption

The purpose of this article is to analyze the influence of individuals’ socioeconomic characteristics on their probability of adopting mobile banking. Based on a sample of 4,141 individuals, we use a logistic model to determine the factors explaining adoption. The results show that gender, level of education, employment, literacy level, and the fact of having a bank account positively influence the probability of adoption of mobile banking. However, the fact of still being in school, household size, and per capita income have a negative influence. Classification JEL: D11, O33, O12
