The global governance of disunited states
Type de matériel :
96
Post-1945 global governance has been structured around the United States. Specialized institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank are regularly challenged for the nature of the programs they instill, and for the domination that developed countries exert over them. This global governance is running out of steam. Big emerging countries, including China, are making claims to leadership and criticize the political liberalism and its role in the development process. These criticisms shared by some developing countries raise a fundamental issue: How far can we go in altering the values of democracy while maintaining collective prosperity in the respect of individual rights?
