This article examines the work and strategies of Theodorakis while in exile in France during the Colonels Junta (1967-1974). Through press articles, public archives, interviews with the composer, and his writings, the analysis focuses on Theodorakis’s emphasis on the interpenetration between a cultural and a democratic revolution, his multiple collaborations, on the reception of his work, and the internationalization of a local cause through music.
