This paper proposes to question how the ideology of progress in the communication of the French Ministry of Research about the “Research Programming Law” (Loi de programmation de la recherche) can be considered as depoliticising. We identify different processes of discursive neutralisation that contribute to depoliticising the ways of building the relationship between science and society, which we try to resituate in the framework of the ministry’s discourse policy.
