Are the victims of anti-Semitism Jewish? Media coverage of anti-Semitic attacks in France
Type de matériel :
96
The early 2000s in France were marked by several waves of attacks targeting different populations: soldiers, journalists, Jews… This article proposes to analyse the naming of religion in the media coverage of the anti-Semitic attacks on Ozar Hatorah (2012) and the Hyper Cacher (2015). In a context of emphasis on secularism and national unity, the aim is to show how journalists talk about religious or worship-related elements, and more specifically about Jews and Judaism, in their accounts of the attacks.
