Jean-Paul Jody was born in Nantes. After making a living at small jobs, selling cars in Africa, travelling the world, he became a travel guide and then a training consultant specializing in the psychology of interest. At the same time, he was writing novels and screenplays, including Une Femme Rêvée produced by TF1, and Stringer made in New York by Klaus Biedermann, starring Burt Reynolds. His novels include Parcours Santé (Actes Sud, 2001), La Position du Missionnaire (Les Contrebandiers Editeurs, Prix Polar de Cognac 2004), Chères Toxines (Seuil, 2008), La Route de Gakona (Seuil, 2009), Vingt Mille Vieux sur les Nerfs (Le Poulpe, Baleine, 2010). Today he runs writing workshops. Mouvements went to meet Jody to learn what he finds the connection to be between writing screenplays and novels.
