The labour of lines

This article is both the culmination of some lines of reflection on globalization and the still precarious draft of a more ambitious project of research on the labour of the lines. The central question is that of the labour of the lines. In a first part we discuss the lines mobilized by Carl Schmitt to seize the nomos of the earth. From the lines of the sovereign, attention is shifted to the non-state lines drawn by the freedom of the seas and the freedom of the maritime trades. This brings us to the moving lines of deterritorialization and reterritorialization to apprehend the obscure nomos that pierces all kinds of walls, a desert that spreads within the dominant nomos. Finally, we return to the dynamics of globalization to put in its center no longer the oceans of waters but the novissimo nomos of the deterritorialized land which governs the oceans of money. The lines of this novissimo nomos are drawn between the inevitable emergence of China and the rythm of the algorithms.
