Europe and the fossil empires

In trying to impose its fossil fuel-based development model on the whole world, Europe has been a major contributor to global warming. As early as 1844 in Germany, the Union of European Countries, largely German-speaking, was perceived as indispensable to the concerted colonization of the world. Germany saw herself as the center of this Empire, to which Britain could only rally. The first act of this European empire would be the destruction of the Ottoman Empire. But the Euro-imperial Union on a global scale has been made impossible by the colonial spread. The imperial fantasy continues to haunt European minds.
