This article reflects upon what is shown in a photograph taken during the street demonstrations that shook Chile in the fall of 2019. A car on which has been tagged the graffiti Esto es montaje helps understanding the various layers of manipulation, montage, resistance, frustration and hope that have coexisted in the streets of Santiago during a few months—and that can also probably be found in other mobilizations and immobilizations across the world.
