How can we avoid the contradictions and dead ends of double consciousness inherent in the attempt to speak from subalternity? Drawing on the work of Algerian historian Daho Djerbal, this article by Ulysse Rabaté provides a decolonial reading of mobilizations in working-class neighborhoods from the 1983 March for Equality and Against Racism to the present day. The author, an activist and researcher in political science, proposes to understand how these political struggles have been marginalized or even excluded from the domain of legitimate politics.
