The planetary experience

This article defines the planetary experience as the moment during which we feel, think, or imagine the rather destabilizing difference between being only terrestrial—being situated and acting on Earth with a specific body, in the midst of social and ecological relations—and being also planetary, subject to the cosmos, wandering like a planet, always in a state of deterritorialization, delocalization, and boundary overflow. The planetary experience is what happens when, from the interiority of our terrestrial situation, we feel our planetary condition: a cosmological excess irreducible to our local, social, ecological and geological incarnation.
