Ten proposals

These ten possible perspectives for Europe do not conclude the dossier, they open the debate. They are intended to offer visions marked by reason but also by federal passion. European « tribunes » must be born to give the Europarliament a leading role over the Council and the Commission. Its powers must be extended to social issues (sexual violence, ecology) and eminently strategic issues such as war. Europe must open up instead of closing its external borders under the yoke of racist rhetoric. International migration is vital to Europe, for economic and demographic reasons. What’s more, Europe is undergoing an extraordinary transformation in terms of employment. When will the question of a European universal income, financed directly by the Union, as a powerful vector for catching up and federalising social policies, be included in the programmes of a European Left to win back the working classes that have been lost?
