The teaching of negotiation has led to great creativity in teaching tools that allow the students to learn by doing. These teaching tools are intended to create realistic contexts, and have been studied as part of research by academics, who have struggled to find observations from real negotiation situations. This article outlines the process of co-construction between research and teaching. It describes how the dyadic approach has been used to create an educational tool which itself opens new perspectives for research into negotiation.
