Literary productivity of the amateur archive: The case of the fan archive
Type de matériel :

This paper argues that the fanfiction site Archive of Our Own offers a productive model for literary theory as well as textual creation. By combining the traditional functions of preservation, production, and reception, the fan archive relies on a principle of textual proliferation that distinguishes it from institutional virtual archives built over the years to define the notion of “electronic literature.” This distinction will be analyzed in order to identify the features that make this type of archive an open one: the reversibility of traditional literary roles, a lack of textual selection, and memory-based literary practices. The key concept of the “rogue archive,” as developed by Abigail De Kosnik, will be used to put into perspective Derrida’s reflections on archival democratization.
