Masculinities at Work: The Ideal Virility in Question
Type de matériel :
9
This article highlights the challenges of a psychosocial approach to masculinity previously defined in close reference to ideal virility. The authors illustrate how their involvement in its social and clinical dimensions has led them to address issues of gender and masculinities, specifically in the field of research and study, and also in intervention organizations. Thus, through a process of objectification, we question the practice of clinical sociologists and psychologists based on the study of gender and masculinities in the field of the family, in the field of work and organizations, and more generally, wherever gender relations come into play. Finally, the article supports the hypothesis, resulting from this development process, that the sexually-differentiated individual is the product of a virile history of which he wants to become the gendered subject.
